Book and Soul For Sale

As other Kaleidoscope posts will testify, I am absolutely no apologist for the Royal Family.  A monarchy is a disgrace to democracy, utterly elitist and has no place in the modern world.

That said, for once, and perhaps the only time, I will come to the ‘Firm’s’ defense over the ludicrous claims from Earl Spencer (the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ brother) about King Charles - Diana’s former husband.

Spencer is currently causing a massive media stink  by claiming Charles dissed Diana to him soon after she had died, apparently suggesting that people will ‘forget her soon enough’.

The Earl is doing the media rounds shouting his abhorrence - how dare Charles say such a thing - and lumping in plenty of other criticisms of the King and the Royals.

But, hang on… Diana died nearly 30 years ago, Spencer said nothing about this at the time, he never mentioned it when he took to the pulpit at her funeral, and there’s hasn’t been a sliver of a word since then.

Why? If Charles, now King, was so insulting to his sister’s memory then how come the silence?

The answer, of course, is that the Earl has a new book coming out, tales of Di and all that, and nothing sells books like some scandal, especially if it is the Royal kind.

The whole thing is utterly so see through and pathetic. Spencer must indeed be desperate for some dosh to market such unsubstantiated drivel.

A bit like Harry and Meghan claiming racial abuse on Oprah Winfrey’s show when they split with the Royal to live in the USA (although they have now come back).

There may well have been racial abuse, like Charles may well have said such a thing about Diana, but there has been no proof given. Harry and Meghan named no names, Spencer cannot prove what he claims, especially 30 years after the ‘fact’.

Like Harry and Meghan, Spencer is just chasing the money and being pretty obnoxious about it to boot.

Like Harry and Meghan, Spencer is selling his soul for cash.
